TourTechSupport provides high quality information technology support services to the touring and entertainment industries. They offer a wide variety of wired and wireless networking solutions as well as state-of-the-art VoIP solutions. TourTechSupport was founded by corporate IT and concert touring professionals to help productions and their staff get business done.

Events typically range from 2 to 14 days and, in most cases, require a T1 /copper based connection used for data applications including: web surfing and email, VoIP (anywhere from 2 to 80 lines), and remote communications/video uplink for television. Internet service that is reliable, cost effective, with a fast installation is critical to the success of TourTechSupport’s business.

CHALLENGE:

TourTechSupport was scheduled to provide technical service for the NFL Kickoff in New York City and required two 4Mbps temporary links installed right away. Links that could be set up in days and taken down shortly after. The first link was to be installed in a park at Columbus Circle and the second link, on 58th Street, at the top of a trailer in the middle of downtown Manhattan.

In most cases, to get internet for each event, TourTechSupport would ask nearby business owners for a temporary connection to their internet service. More often than not, they would encounter several problems with this arrangement including: cost that was not within their budget, T1 and cable configuration, and refusal to even allow the connection!

Within just a few days of TourTechSupport signing a contract for two temporary 4Mbps links, a Towerstream installer arrived at the site and, according to Allen, the entire installation was smooth and problem free.
